About Florida Boat Surveyors

Hands-On Experience Behind Every Survey

Florida Boat Surveyors is led by Justin Grubb, a marine surveyor and qualified marine chief engineer whose experience spans vessel construction, engineering, operation, refit management and technical investigation.

A Career Built Around Boats and Yachts

Justin’s marine career began in Durban, South Africa, where he worked with Charter Cats from 1996 to 1999. His work included vessel construction and the development and fabrication of moulds for the Prowler Cat, culminating in the launch of the first Prowler Cat.

He subsequently served aboard large motor yachts as a marine engineer and chief engineer and managed and oversaw refit projects involving yachts up to 70 metres (230 feet).

Practical Surveying

Thirty years of construction, engineering and operational experience provide the context needed to understand how boats are built, how their systems interact and how defects affect safety, reliability, value and cost of ownership.

Independent Judgment

The surveyor’s responsibility is to the client and the agreed assignment. Findings are reported independently, without minimizing defects to preserve a transaction or exaggerating ordinary maintenance to create negotiating leverage.
